Right Medicine Pharmacy has today announced the rollout of Map My Mole, a groundbreaking digital mole-checking service, across its pharmacy network in Scotland. From December 2025, patients will be able to access fast, expert mole reviews from UK consultant dermatologists by visiting their local Right Medicine branch.

This move will reaffirm Right Medicine's commitment to keeping communities healthy, informed, and ahead of preventable conditions by introducing progressive new services.

The service will initially launch in 12 sites, with a vision to expand access even further across Scotland. Appointments take just 10 minutes, and a clinical report is returned within 24 to 48 hours.

Katherine Thomson, Training and Development Manager at Right Medicine Pharmacy, said:

“We’re proud to be placing trusted skin health services on the high street. This partnership with Map My Mole allows us to offer something truly powerful: rapid access to consultant-reviewed mole checks in a local, familiar setting. It’s about putting people first, removing barriers to care, and helping patients feel reassured quickly.”

Right Medicine’s service offers a faster, more accessible route to expert review. Using a dermatoscope and secure app, trained pharmacy staff capture clinical-grade images which are reviewed remotely by dermatologists. Patients are then advised on next steps - whether that’s reassurance, further monitoring, or referral.

Noel Wicks, Managing Director at Right Medicine Pharmacy, added:

“We’re always looking for meaningful ways to serve our communities. This service puts Scotland’s patients at the centre of innovation. It’s a win for early detection, a win for the NHS, and a win for community pharmacy.”

Proven Impact – National Results

The model has already shown transformative results in other regions:

  • 2-day average turnaround from image to diagnosis
  • 73% reduction in secondary care referrals

With referrals surging and NHS dermatology departments under pressure, pharmacy-led teledermatology offers a low-barrier, high-trust model that empowers patients and reduces unnecessary escalation.

Toby Nelson, Consultant Dermatologist and Co-founder of Map My Mole, said:

“Right Medicine Pharmacy is exactly the kind of forward-thinking partner we need. By embedding early detection services in pharmacies, we’re taking action for improved skin health. Every mole checked could be a life saved.”
