Dears Pharmacy have announced they will roll out the Map My Mole mole check service across 17 pharmacy sites in Scotland, going live from November 2025. The expansion will make it easier for patients across Scotland to access quick, expert mole checks and advice from consultant dermatologists via their local pharmacy.
The rollout covers locations across the country, including Stockbridge, Dundee, St Andrews, Glenrothes, Kelty, Mearns and more. Patients booking a Map My Mole appointment at Dears Pharmacies will experience a simple ten-minute consultation. A trained pharmacy team member will record some basic health information, take photos of the mole using a dermatoscope attached to a smartphone, and securely send the images to UK-based consultant dermatologists through Map My Mole’s award-winning app. A detailed clinical report is returned within 24 to 48 hours, giving patients fast, trusted guidance on next steps.
Mahyar Nickkho-Amiry, Managing Director and Superintendent Pharmacist at Dears, said:
“We are delighted to partner with Map My Mole to bring accessible, high-quality mole checks to our patients. Demand for these services has grown rapidly, and pharmacies are in a unique position to offer reassurance and early detection without long waiting times. This initiative helps us deliver vital community care from our multiple sites.”
Toby Nelson, Co-Founder and Consultant Dermatologist, at Map My Mole, said:
“We’re thrilled to be supporting Dears Pharmacies in this rollout, especially following the strong response to our recent National Pharmacy Association partnership announcement and engagement at The Pharmacy Show. Dears Pharmacies are a trusted and integral pharmacy partner in Scotland, and this launch will help many more patients access safe, expert mole checks in their local community. Every mole checked is a life potentially saved, so we are thrilled to work together.”
Data from the charity Melanoma Focus highlights the importance of this service: fewer than one in five (19%) of the Scottish public feel confident identifying the symptoms of melanoma skin cancer. Map My Mole’s tele dermatology service helps bridge this gap, offering timely reassurance and guidance from high street pharmacies.
The service will go live in November, with plans to onboard 32 Dears and Amiry and Gilbirde Pharmacies and affiliated sites across Scotland.
